(E)-ethyl 3-(5-(benzylthio)-2-((4-bromo-5-fluoro-2-methoxyphenyl)amino)phenyl)-acrylate (0.400 g, 0.775 mmol was added to a flask followed by MeOH (10.00 mL) and sodium methoxide (1.6 mL, 1.641 mmol). The flask was fitted with reflux condensor and heated to 100° C. for 1 hour. The reaction was cooled to RT and poured into 20 mL HCl (IN). Extracted with EtOAc (3×), dried over magnesium sulfate and filtered. The resulting material was concentrated and used without further purification to yield 0.362 g of 6-(benzylthio)-1-(4-bromo-5-fluoro-2-methoxyphenyl)quinolin-2(1H)-one. m/z (ESI) 516.0 (M+H)+.
