N-cyclohexylpyrrolidine prepared in example 1 was quaternized with ethyl iodide according to the procedure describe in example 4 (using ethyl iodide in place of methyl iodide). The reaction afforded N-Ethyl-N-cyclohexylpyrrolidinium iodide in 86% yield. The iodide salt was exchanged with Bio-Rad AG 1-X8 ion-exchange resin as described in example 4 for the N-methyl-N-cyclohexylpyrrolidinium iodide. The exchange procedure afforded N-ethyl-N-cyclohexylpyrrolidinium hydroxide in 89% yield (titration analysis).
