Procedure
Dichloromethane (MC) was added to (2S,3R)-methyl-3-(2-chlorophenyl)-2,3-dihydroxypropanoate at room temperature. 1,1-Diethoxyethane (8 ml) and p-toluenesulfonic acid (0.27 g) was added and stirred at room temperature. The reaction mixture was quenched with H2O, extracted with MC, washed with H2O, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate (MgSO4), filtered and concentrated. The crude compound was purified by a silica gel column to produce the title compound (3.6 g, 70˜95%).
