To a solution of 2-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl) phenol (400 mg, 2.5 mmol) and K2CO3 (518 mg, 3.75 mmol) in CH3CN (10 mL) was added ethyl 2-bromoacetate (418 g, 2.5 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h, diluted with water, extracted with ethyl acetate and concentrated. The crude material was purified by column chromatography. (129 mg, yield 21%) MS (ESI+) e/z: 247.2 [M+1]+.
