A mixture of 3-(3-iodo-4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-1,2,4-triazole (Step B) (397 mg, 1.260 mmol), bis(neopentyl glycolato)diboron (342 mg, 1.512 mmol), potassium acetate (495 mg, 5.04 mmol), and 1,1′-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene-palladium(II)dichloride dichloromethane complex (51.4 mg, 0.063 mmol) in DMSO (10 ml) was degassed flushing with nitrogen and heated at 80° C. overnight. The reaction was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with water followed by brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to afford the crude title product that was used without further purification.
