Following general procedure E1, methyl 2-(4-((2-cyclopentyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)pyrimidin-4-yl)methyl)phenyl)acetate (0.079 g, 0.21 mmol) was reacted with DIBAL (1.0 M, 1.0 mL, 1.0 mmol) to afford the title compound (0.061 g, 83%) as a light yellow oil. MW=350.38. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 500 MHz) δ 7.70 (s, 1H), 7.23 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 7.16 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 4.58 (t, J=5.5 Hz, 1H), 4.15 (s, 2H), 3.41-3.33 (m, 1H), 2.68 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 2H), 2.09-1.99 (m, 2H), 1.90-1.61 (m, 6H); APCI MS m/z 351 [M+H]+.
