Following general procedure E1, ethyl 2-(4-((2-(3-chlorophenyl)-6,7-dihydro-5H-cyclopenta[b]pyridin-4-yl)(hydroxy)methyl)phenyl)acetate (0.065 g, 0.15 mmol) was reacted with DIBAL (1.0 M, 0.46 mL, 0.46 mmol), followed by formation of the hydrochloride salt to afford the title compound (0.047 g, 73%) as a white solid. MW=379.88. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 500 MHz) δ 8.10-8.07 (m, 1H), 8.03 (s, 1H), 8.00-7.97 (m, 1H), 7.59-7.52 (m, 2H), 7.31 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 7.16 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 2H), 5.78 (s, 1H), 3.56 (t, J=7.0 Hz, 2H), 3.03-2.90 (m, 3H), 2.71-2.60 (m, 3H), 2.09-2.00 (m, 2H); APCI MS m/z 380 [M+H]+.
