tert-Butyl(2-oxo-2-{[4-(4-pyridinyl)phenyl]amino}ethyl)phenylcarbamate (1.30 g) was dissolved in 50% trifluoroacetic acid in dichloromethane (26 mL) and the mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was crystallized from n-hexane-ethyl acetate (1:1, 15 mL). The crystals were collected by filtration and washed with n-hexane/ethyl acetate (1:1, 5 mL) to afford 2-anilino-N-[4-(4-pyridinyl)phenyl]acetamide bis(trifluoroacetate) (1.46 g) as yellow crystals.
