To a solution of (S)-N-(5-bromo-3-(2-methylpyridin-3-yloxy)pyridin-2-yl)-3-(1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decan-2-yl)-1,2,4-thiadiazol-5-amine (0.072 g, 0.20 mmol) in methanol (10 mL) was added concentrated HCl (3 drops) and the reaction heated to 80° C. for 3 hr. The reaction was concentrated in vacuo. The material was triturated with ethyl acetate/methanol 1/1 (10 mL) to give (S)-1-(5-(5-bromo-3-(2-methylpyridin-3-yloxy)pyridine-2-ylamino)-1,2,4-thiadiazol-3-yl)ethane-1,2-diol (0.070 g, 0.16 mmol, 83%) as a white solid (APCI POS 424,426 M+H).
