Procedure
5-(tert-Butyl-dimethyl-silanyloxymethyl)-3-phenyl-isoxazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (12.2 g, 34 mmol) was dissolved in THF (200 mL), lithium borohydride (1.47 g, 67 mmol) was added and the reaction mixture was heated under reflux overnight. After cooling to room temperature aqueous saturated Seignette salt solution was added and the mixture was stirred for 1 h. After extractive workup (ethyl acetate/diethylether) the organic phase was dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated. Chromatographic purification (silica, heptane:ethyl acetate=100:0 to 85:15) afforded the title compound as a light yellow oil (4.4 g, 41%). MS: m/e=320.4 [M+H]+.
