A solution of 4-amino-N-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)-3-nitro-benzamide (2.0 g) in EtOH (40 mL) was hydrogenated at 1 atm over PtO2 (200 mg, 10% w) for 18 hrs. The catalyst was filtered through Celite and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford 3,4-diamino-N-(3,4-dimethylphenyl)-benzamide as a yellow solid. MS (ESI)m/z 256 (M+H).
