A mixture of tert-butyl 4-(1-(4-(methylsulfonyl)phenyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridin-4-yloxy)piperidine-1-carboxylate (5.279 g, 11.77 mmol) and hydrogen chloride (37% in H2O, 40 mL, EMD) was stirred for 20 min and then concentrated in vacuo. The obtained solid was dissolved in methanol (80 mL) and diethyl ether (300 mL) was added. The resulting solid was filtered to give 4.52 g of the desired product as an off-white solid. MS (ESI) 349 (M+H).
