Hydrazine monohydrate (0.059 mL, 1.23 mmol) was added to a solution of methyl 4-methyl-2-(2-(2-oxo-3,4-dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-yl)acetamido)thiophene-3-carboxylate (221 mg, 0.616 mmol) in ethanol (2 mL) and the resulting solution was stirred at 50° C. for 24 h. The mixture was diluted with brine and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was separated, dried (Na2SO4), filtered, concentrated under vacuum to give N-(3-(hydrazinecarbonyl)-4-methylthiophen-2-yl)-2-(2-oxo-3,4-dihydroquinolin-1(2H)-yl)acetamide (174 mg, 0.485 mmol, 79%). Retention time (min)=1.435, method [1], MS(ESI) 359.1 (M+H).
