7-Iodo-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-b]pyridine (342 mg, 1.396 mmol), 4-bromo-2-methylbutan-2-ol (233 mg, 1.396 mmol) and Cs2CO3 (455 mg, 1.396 mmol) were combined in DMF (5 mL) and heated in a microwave at 120° C. for 60 minutes. The reaction was cooled, filtered, and concentrated to give a residue which was purified by silica column eluted using a step gradient of EtOAc (0-90%) in hexanes to give 4-(7-iodo-2H-pyrazolo[4,3-b]pyridin-2-yl)-2-methylbutan-2-ol.
