Procedure
A mixture of methyl 2-{[2-(benzyloxy)-4-(3,4-difluoro-1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenyl]hydrazono}-4-methoxy-3-oxobutanoate (4.85 g) and N,N-dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal (100 mL) was heated under reflux for 3 hr. The mixture was allowed to be cooled to room temperature, and the precipitate was collected by filtration, and recrystallized from methanol to give the title compound (4.57 g).
