Procedure

To a suspension of 6-bromo-2-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carbothioamide (700 mg, 2.59 mmol) obtained as described above in DMF (60 mL), was added ethyl 2-chloro-3-oxo-3-phenylpropanoate (1.76 g, 7.77 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 21 h. The mixture was allowed to cool to rt, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was washed with water, EtOH and diethyl ether to give the titled compound (750 mg, 66%) as a pale yellow solid.
