To a stirred solution of methyl 5-bromo-2-methyl-3-((tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)amino)benzoate (1 g, 3.04 mmol) and cyclopropanecarbaldehyde (1.06 g, 15.24 mmol) in methanol (15 mL), acetic acid (0.456 g, 7.0 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 8 h. Sodium cyanoborohydride (0.488 g, 7.62 mmol) was then added at 0° C. and reaction mixture stirred overnight at room temperature. The solvent was then removed under reduced pressure and the crude product purified by column chromatography to afford methyl 5-bromo-3-((cyclopropylmethyl)(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)amino)-2-methylbenzoate (0.275 g, 23.70%).
