A solution of the product from Example 5 (1 g, 3.24 mmol) and hydrocinnamaldehyde (0.94 g, 7 mmol) in 2:1 MeOH/H2O (50 mL) was treated with sodium i 15 cyanoborohydride (0.56 g, 9 mmol) portionwise under nitrogen and stirred for six hours. The solvent was decanted and the semi-solid was dissolved in dichloromethane, dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and concentrated under vacuum. The crude compound was chromatographed on silica gel (eluted with 25% ethyl acetate in hexane) to give the title compound (1.18 g, 94% yield) as a brown oil.
