10-bromo-5,6-dihydro-2-methoxy-4H-pyrido[3,2,1-jk]carbazole-4-one (0.7 g) obtained in Example 1, step 3 was suspended in ethanol (30 ml), and pyridine-2-aldehyde (0.7 g) and sodium hydroxide (0.3 g) dissolved in water (5 ml) were added at room temperature. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 hours, and approximately half of the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The precipitated crystals were recovered by filtration, and washed with water, ethanol and ether in succession to obtain the title compound (0.56 g, 61%).
