Procedure

A solution of the product from step (vi) (0.5 g) in dichloromethane (12 ml) was treated with trifluoracetic acid (9 ml) and stirred at room temperature for 3.5 hours. The mixture was evaporated and the residue dissolved in ethanol (50 ml) and 2M HCl. The mixture was heated at reflux at 4 hours. The mixture was evaporated and the residue treated with water, filtered and dried (MgSO4). Purified by chromatography eluting with 5% methanol in dichloromethane. Yield 0.27 g.
