Procedure

To a solution of 0.227 g of (+)-1-(2,2-diethoxyethyl)-3-(4-methylphenyl)aminocarbonylmethyl-3-(N′-(4-methylphenyl)ureido)indolin-2-one in 5 ml of acetone was added 5 ml of 6N hydrochloric acid, followed by heating under reflux for 10 minutes. The reaction mixture was concentrated, and the residue was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed twice with an aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The organic layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated to give 0.189 g of the title compound as a crude product.
