A mixture of 25 g of (S)-4-hydroxy-1-(2-propynyl)-2-pyrrolidinone, 39.8 g of t-butyldimethylsilyl chloride and 38.5 ml of triethylamine in 200 ml of dichloromethane was stirred under argon overnight. The mixture was washed with 300 ml of water, dried and evaporated. The residual oil was purified by chromatgraphy, (silica gel) giving 42.7 g of (S)-4-[[(1,1-dimethylethyl)dimethylsilyl]oxy]-1-(2-propynyl)-2-pyrrolidinone.
