Procedure
1,2-di(4-Carbomethoxybenzoyl)hydrazine (A), prepared as in Example 1, in pyridine was refluxed with phosphorus pentasulfide for 15 hours. The mixture was cooled and poured into 20% ethanol. After the solution was neutralized with sodium bicarbonate, the product, dimethyl-4,4'-(1,3,4-thiadiazol-2,5-diyl)dibenzoate (D), was obtained by filtration (m.p. 268°-270°, yiled 60%). Then III was obtained by reacting D in a similar manner as in Example 1 (m.p. >300°, 60%).
