Procedure
t-Butyl 3-p-fluorobenzyl-7-(2-thienylacetamido)-3-cephem-4-carboxylate (X) (36 mg) was treated with trifluoroacetic acid (5 ml) at room temperature for 40 minutes. The excess trifluoroacetic acid was distilled off azeotropically with dry benzene to give the free acid (XII) as a foam νmax (CHCl3) 1770, 1705, 1680 cm-1
Workup
- distillationThe excess trifluoroacetic acid was distilled off azeotropically with dry benzene
