Alternately, combine 4-(1-(5-(ethoxycarbonyl)fur-2-ylmethyl)-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)[1,4]diazepane (10 mmol) and lithium aluminum hydride (10 mmol) in tetrahydrofuran. Heat to reflux. After 12 hour, cool and carefully quench the reaction mixture with water (0.4 mL), 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (0.4 mL) and water (1.2 mL). Filter and extract the filtrate with ethyl acetate. Dry the organic layer over Na2SO4, filter, and evaporate in vacuo to give the title compound.
