2.26 g of methyl (S)-(4-(4-(ethoxy-imino-methyl)phenyl)-3,4-dimethyl-2,5-dioxoimidazolidin-1-yl)acetate hydrochloride (6.4 mmol) were suspended in 25 ml of isopropanol and treated with 7.2 ml of a 2N solution of ammonia in isopropanol. The reaction mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 2.5 hours. The mixture was cooled and then treated with 200 ml of diethyl ether. The precipitate was filtered off with suction and dried in a high vacuum.
