9.6 g (0.028 mol) of 2,4-bis(2'-hydroxyphenyl)-6-phenyl-s-triazine, 25 ml (0.234 mol) of dimethylmethane phosphonate and 4.0 g (0.028 mol) of sodium carbonate are mixed and the mixture is heated to 150° C. After 2 hours the clear, pale red reaction solution is stirred into 150 ml of ethanol. The precipitate is filtered with suction, rinsed with 20 ml of ethanol and water and dried in an exsiccator, giving 9.4 g (94.1%) of the compound of formula ##STR7##
