Reaction Steps
A mixture of 0.1 mole of 4-nitro-2-[3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl]-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione, 200 ml. of ethanol, 0.1 mole of 12N hydrochloric acid and 1.0 g. of Pd/C catalyst was reduced in a Parr hydrogenator under an initial H2 pressure of 45 pounds per square inch pressure. The catalyst was filtered off and the solvent was removed to obtain the desired compound as the hydrochloride salt.
