Procedure

170 mg of 5-[4-(6-acetoxy-2,7-dimethylchroman-2-ylmethoxy)benzyl]-2-iminothiazolidin-4-one (prepared as described in Example 5) were added to a mixture of 0.2 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid and 2 ml of ethylene glycol monomethyl ether, and the mixture was reacted at 95°-97° C. for 6 hours. It was then processed and purified as described in Example 1(a), except that the crude product, in the form of an oil, was subjected to column chromatography through silica gel, eluted with a 9:1 by volume mixture of benzene and ethyl acetate, to give the title compound.

Workup

  1. customthe mixture was reacted at 95°-97° C. for 6 hours
  2. custompurified
  3. washeluted with a 9:1 by volume mixture of benzene and ethyl acetate
