Procedure
A solution of ethyl chloroformate (3.6 g) in 25 ml dichloromethane was slowly added to a solution of 3-amino-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1-(4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-3-benzazepine (9 g) in 100 ml dichloromethane containing sodium bicarbonate (7 g). After one hour, the reaction mixture was filtered and concentrated to 11 g solid. A 3 g sample was recrystallized from ether to yield 2.2 g white crystals, mp 156°-157°.
