Procedure
A mixture of 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione (4.7 g) and acetone (180 ml) was heated to reflux to give a clear solution. A solution of methanesulfonic acid (0.83 ml) in acetone (10 ml) was added and the mixture cooled to 21° C. After standing in a sealed vessel for 5 days at 21° C. crystals of 5-[4-[2-(N-methyl-N-(2-pyridyl)amino)ethoxy]benzyl]thiazolidine-2,4-dione methanesulfonate were collected by filtration.
