Procedure

Trifluoroacetic acid (20 mL) was added to a solution of tert-butyl 4-(2,5-difluorophenyl)-2-phenyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole-1-carboxylate (14,700 mg, 1.96 mmol, 1 equiv) in dichloromethane (50 mL) at 23° C., and the resulting mixture was stirred for 30 min, then concentrated to give 4-(2,5-difluorophenyl)-2-phenyl-2,5-dihydro-1H-pyrrole (1-5) as a TFA salt (brown oil). LRMS m/z (M+H) 258.1 found, 258.1 required.
