To a solution of [2-(3-{4-cyano-3-[3-(3-ethyl-1-methyl-2-oxo-azepan-3-yl)-phenoxy]-benzyl}-2-methyl-3H-imidazol-4-yl)-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (as described in Step B above) (0.2 g, 0.41 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (6.0 mL) was added TFA (3.0 mL) and the solution was stirred for 0.5 hr. The solvents were removed in vacuo and the crude product was purified by preparative HPLC. Conversion to the HCl salt yielded the title compound.
