Procedure

9.26 g of the product obtained in Stage 4 above is introduced into 400 ml of methylene chloride at 0° C. and 5.8 g of metachloroperbenzoic acid is added. Agitation is carried out for one hour at ambient temperature and the reaction medium is washed with sodium and potassium hydride, extraction is carried out with methylene chloride, the extracts are washed with water, dried, and the solvent is evaporated off. After chromatography, 8.8 g of expected product is obtained. M.p.=187° C.

Workup

  1. washthe reaction medium is washed with sodium and potassium hydride, extraction
  2. washthe extracts are washed with water
  3. customdried
  4. customthe solvent is evaporated off
