Procedure
3,5-Dimethoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1 g, 5.46 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (50 ml) and 4-bromoaniline (939 mg, 5.46 mmol) was added. The resultant reaction solution was stirred overnight at room temperature under nitrogen to give a precipitate that was collected by filtration to yield light yellow fine crystals (860 mg) of the title product: 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3); δ 8.30 (S, 1H), 7.49 (d, J=9 Hz, 2H), 7.16 (S, 2H), 7.07 (d, J=9 Hz, 2H), 5.86 (S, 1H), 3.98 (S, 6H).
