Procedure

3-Fluoro-5-(pyrid-3-yl)aniline (1.05 g, 0.0050 mole) in dry dichloromethane was treated under argon with triethylamine (1.12 ml, 0.0080 mole) followed dropwise by phenyl chloroformate (0.97 ml, 0.0077 mole) and stirred at ambient temperature for 18 hours. The reaction mixture was washed (×2) with deionised water, dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated in vacuo to afford the title compound (1.1 g, 71%) as an off white solid.
