Procedure

(S)-3-Amino-4-phenyl-1-butene (5.2 g, 35.4 mmol) was dissolved in ethyl formate (100 ml) and the solution was refluxed with heat for 6 hours. After completion of reaction, the solution was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the desired compound as an orange oil. Yield: 6.44 g.
