Procedure
3.5 g of N-tritylglycine chloromethyl ester in acetone (25 ml) were treated with p-toluenesulphonic acid (1.9 g) in acetone (25 ml). After standing for one-half hour at room temperature, the resulting precipitate was collected on a filter. The product thus obtained had a melting point of 188°-190°C.
