Reaction Steps
3 is prepared from 2-hydroxy-6-methoxyacetophenone and 4-trifluoromethylbenzoyl chloride by the procedure of Example 1. The material is purified by flash chromatography (gradient elution using 25% ethyl acetate in hexane, 40% ethyl acetate in hexane, 60% ethyl acetate in hexane; material is loaded on column in methylene chloride), yielding 3 with a melting point of 190°-191° C.
