To a solution of 640 mg of 4-fluoro-3-(3-fluorobenzoyl)-5-methoxybenzonitrile in 6 ml ethanol was added 3 ml of hydrazine monohydrate at room temperature, followed by stirring at 70° C. for one day. The reaction mixture was evaporated, and the resulting crystals were collected by filtration. The crystals were sequentially washed with ethanol and diethyl ether, to give 590 mg of the title compound as colorless crystals.
