tert-Butyl 4-[4-[2-[2-(methylsulfanyl)ethyl]-1H-imidazol-1-yl]butyl]phenyl ether (2.11 g) was dissolved in 4N hydrochloric acid (6 ml), and the mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was neutralized with 30% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to give crystals, which were collected by filtration and washed with diethyl ether to give the titled compound (1.12 g) as a colorless crystal powder.
