Procedure
A 0.75 g portion of the cyclopropylaminoindole compound was dissolved in 75 ml Et2O and stirred while a solution of 0.69 g of 2-naphthalene sulfonic acid in 50 ml Et2O was added slowly. A white precipitate formed which was filtered under N2, washed with 2×50 ml Et2O and dried to afford 1.04 g of 4-methyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocyclopent[b]indol-3-cyclopropylamine 2-naphthalene sulfonate.
