Procedure
1-(3-Chloropropyl)-N,α-bis(4-fluorophenyl)-4-piperidinemethanamine and excess aniline are heated together until the reaction is complete. Excess aniline is distilled off and the residual material partitioned between dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide and methylene chloride. The methylene chloride solution is dried and concentrated to obtain the title compound.
