0.13 g (0.28 mmol) tert-butyl (R)-3-(3,5-difluoro-phenyl)-4-methoxycarbonylmethyl-5-oxo-8,11-dioxa-1,4-diaza-spiro[5.6]dodecane-1-carboxylate were combined with 20 ml of a 1M methanolic hydrochloric acid solution and stirred for 2 h at 50° C. The reaction mixture was concentrated by rotary evaporation and further reacted without any further purification.
