A solution of 2,4-dioxo-N-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-7-carboxamide (0.12 g, 0.39 mmol) in THF (1.6 mL), acetic acid (3.2 mL) and water (0.8 mL) was heated at 60° C. for 5 h. The mixture was concentrated to dryness. The residue was purified by preparative HPLC to afford N-hydroxy-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline-7-carboxamide (38 mg, 44%). LC-MS: (FA) ES+ 222; 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO) δ 11.42 (s, 1H), 11.40 (s, 1H), 11.28 (s, 1H), 9.21 (d, J=1.6 Hz, 1H), 7.92 (d, J=8.2 Hz, 1H), 7.52 (s, 1H), 7.44 (dd, J=8.2, 1.3 Hz, 1H).
