Reaction Steps
A solution of 3-methyl-4-oxo-3,4-dihydroquinazoline-7-carboxylic acid (110 mg, 0.54 mmol) in SOCl2 (8 mL) was stirred at reflux for 5 h. The excess SOCl2 was then removed under reduced pressure. The crude 3-methyl-4-oxo-3,4-dihydroquinazoline-7-carbonyl chloride was used without further purification for the next step.
