85 g (0.284 mol) 6-(4-methyl-6-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydro-pyridazin-3-yl)-benzoxazol-2-thiolate as potassium salt, 34.3 ml (0.55 mol) methyl iodide and 200 ml DMF are combined and the mixture is stirred for 1 h at 50° C., then the reaction mixture is poured onto ice water. The precipitated solid is suction filtered and washed with water, isopropanol and diethyl ether.
