1.0 g (8.92 mmol) 1,2-cyclopropanedicarboxylic acid anhydride is dissolved in 5 ml acetonitrile, 1.5 g (9.86 mmol) 4-methoxy-benzyl-hydrazine dissolved in 5 ml acetonitrile are added dropwise and the mixture is refluxed overnight. During cooling to RT a precipitate is formed, which is filtered off, washed with acetonitrile and dried in the vacuum dryer at 50° C.
