To a solution of 2-ethoxyethanamine (4.07 g) in ethanol (100 mL) was added 4-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-2-one (4.05 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated, and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (ethyl acetate/hexane) to give the title compound (4.90 g).
