To a solution of but-3-yn-1-amine hydrochloride (4.88 g) and triethylamine (6.44 mL) in ethanol (60 mL) was added 4-thioxo-1,3-thiazolidin-2-one (3.08 g), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated, water was added to the residue, and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was washed with ethyl acetate to give the title compound (1.95 g).
